Hosting A Social Media Site
Is a money pit. Not sure how much longer I'm going to be keeping this site around anymore. I have bigger things to worry about, and better things to do with my money than to keep endlessly investing into whatever social media is supposed to even be, and if you don't want me to do that, then the time is now to start putting your money into this, instead of mine.
No, you cannot have this site. No, you cannot buy it. No, you cannot rent/lease it. But, you can become an investor, and you can accrue interest into this project, but you cannot expect to turn a profit from this. This site will forever be free, but extremely limited as to who is and isn't allowed membership exclusivity.
Do I have a roadmap as to what does and doesn't need to be done on this site? Yes, I do, and I have always had a roadmap of things that either need to be fixed, or need to be added. The site code keeps breaking, svg images disappear, and everything keeps needing to be upgraded, and that's not how I planned this site to even be.
For what I want it for, this site has way too much going on. Like, way too much code, it's just too much, and it's always going to cost something to get all of this fixed. And, I am at wit's end just trying to keep up with everything all by myself. It's a lot, and many things I have fixed on my own, but the foundation for this site is terrible to begin with, because the main developer coded incredibly sloppy, and I was often having to follow him through this and tell him where he messed up.
When I talked to the developer about this site, he was apprehensive at times about fixing it. He didn't want to do what it took to just fix everything before moving to the next step, and he even insulted me and said that I'm not a real developer, even though I have been studying development and going through lots of trial and error on my own, and none of this is new to me, but I am still always learning.... But, I know enough about coding to know where he made mistakes.
And, what I'm trying to say is that, with his coding being so garbage at times, that I knew it would only be a matter of time before the foundation for this site would be caving–in upon itself. And as much as I love this site, and how easy it is to code, I actually am considering scrapping this site if it doesn't start gaining anyone's interest, because everyone acts excited to join and be a part of the community here, but no one actually participates, and it's just me posting on here, which is kind of what I wanted, my own place to post what I want, but the foundation of the coding is crumbling as we speak, and I kinda just don't want to waste anymore of my time dealing with this shit anymore.
